The Research Councils of Iceland and the Faroe Islands have signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining how the councils may realise shared objectives.
The Memorandum seeks to identify synergies between the two countries´ research and innovation activities and create opportunities for joint funding of activities and projects that promote bilateral scientific collaboration, including mobility programs and co-hosting of workshops and seminars.
There has been an increase in the areas of cooperation between the two countires which include fisheries, climate, environment, health issues, culture, tourism, and topics related to the Arctic.
The Research Councils of Iceland and Greenland signed a similar agreement in 2022 and the Research Councils of Greenland and the Faroe Islands signed an agreement in June 2023.
